The Hartland Library was the location for a holiday sing-along on December 1st, 2017! Roger and Marsha Evenson played the piano and sang with us we explored the origins of some of our most popular holiday songs.
We didn’t get to see Eleanor Roosevelt as planned at the Hartland Library Memory Cafe on November 3rd, 2017 but we did have a lot of fun. We shared our favorite holiday music, what we’d change our names to, and the best advice we were given. Letters were written to those who are serving in the military and we honored the Veterans in our lives with stars.
Our theme at the Friday, October 6th, 2017 Memory Cafe in Pewaukee was Essential Oils. We learned where they come from and how they might benefit us. We did a lot of sniffing!
We let our inner artists out at the Friday, September 1st, 2017 Memory Cafe at the Pewaukee Library. Using tiles, sharpies, a little rubbing alcohol we created some masterpieces!
Our Memory Cafe’ program on Friday, August 4th featured Ryan Meisel, a local musician/music teacher. He played a number of Native American and world wind instruments, giving us a little background on each one and the song he was playing. Then we all joined in for a drum circle to end the fun!
We used all our senses to explore various common herbs used in cooking, baking and home remedies at our July 7th, 2017 Memory Cafe’ at the Town Hall Library. Everyone enjoyed treats made with herbs!
We learned all about one-room schoolhouses at the Hartland Public Library on Friday, March 3, 2017. A Waukesha County Museum docent “taught” us and we used slate and chalk for our notes!
Love and Friendship
The theme at the February Memory Cafe at the Pewaukee Public Library was Love & Friendship. On February 3, 2017 we got together and crafted love letters with conversation hearts, sang our favorite love songs and played bingo with a (Hershey’s) kiss.
Life in the Arctic
Dawn Koceja of the Milwaukee Public Museum’s SPARK! program told us all about life in the Arctic at the January 6th, 2017 Memory Cafe in chilly Pewaukee!
